STFNA Board Votes to Oppose San Jose "Opportunity Housing" Proposal

In June 2021, the San Jose City Council will vote on whether to accept a recommendation of the Envision San Jose 2040 General Plan Task Force to eliminate single-family zoning throughout the City.  The recommendation, known as Opportunity Housing, would allow up to four dwelling units on parcels within neighborhoods that are currently zoned for single-family residences.

After careful consideration, the Board of Directors of the Santa Teresa Foothills Neighborhood Association has voted to oppose this recommendation for the reasons cited in the attached letter.

If approved by the City Council, this proposal will impact all single-family neighborhoods throughout San Jose.  We urge residents to familiarize themselves regarding this issue by visiting the following link on the City’s website: https://www.sanjoseca.gov/your-government/departments-offices/planning-building-code-enforcement/planning-division/citywide-planning/envision-san-jos-2040-general-plan/general-plan-4-year-review/opportunity-housing

The STFNA Board of Directors encourages residents to let our City Councilmembers know their views – pro or con – regarding this proposal.
